What is Cosmo’s Learning Systems™?
Cosmo’s Learning Systems™ is an interactive learning system. It has a specialized computer input device, Mission Control™, that was specially developed to be accessible to children with and without disabilities. Cosmo’s Learning Systems also features Cosmo’s Play and Learn™ software, an innovative software program that is based on developmentally appropriate (ages 3-5) concepts and encourages children to learn through exploration. CosmoBot™, the virtual robot, playfully guides the child though a playground where the child can learn and have fun at the same time.
What will my child be learning?
The team that developed Cosmo’s Play and Learn software based the content on "Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs" developed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC, www.naeyc.org/). NAEYC is an organization which focuses on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. These guidelines helped shape the objectives targeted in this program. Specifically, this software program teaches about colors, relative size and amounts (e.g., bigger/smaller, more/less), following verbal directions, and prepositions (e.g., on, in, under). It also introduces numbers, counting, and shapes. Aside from these specific goals, the software is aimed at improving attention/focus, sustained play, and problem solving.
